Artist Biography

Biography - 

Jerry Becker was born in Tacoma, Washington in 1928.  At the time of his death in 2024, Jerry had over 65 years of experience as a versatile artist in multi media, working mostly in Watercolor; he also worked in Oil, Pastel, Acrylics, Charcoal and Collage.  


His thorough explanations of his many Watercolor techniques put him in much demand as an instructor.  Jerry taught Watercolor Classes and Workshops throughout the Western United States for many years including Tacoma Community College, Fort Steilacoom Community College, Puyallup School District and Franklin Pierce School District and multiple workshops in Tucson, Arizona. His Watercolors have been shown in numerous galleries throughout the entire Western United States.

Mr. Becker maintained memberships with the Western Federation of Water Color Societies, Southern Arizona Art Guild, Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild, and Whiskey Painters of America.

Studied Oils - Studied oil painting at Cornish School of Allied Arts (Seattle); Derbyshire School of Fine Art (Seattle).

Studied Watercolor - Studied Watercolor with Millard Sheets, Rex Brandt, Robert E Wood, George Post, Bud Shackelford, Milford Zornes.

60 awards in Juried shows. 
70 one-man shows, including showing at the Frye Art Museum (Seattle).
